Peter Odemwingie made his full debut for Cardiff City and scored his first goal for the club but ended up on the losing side in a five-goal thriller in Tuesday’s League Cup game against West Ham United at Upton Park.
The Hammers raced to a two-goal lead via Ravel Morrison and Matty Jarvis seven minutes into the game before the Bluebirds got one back through Craig Noone’s stunning strike just before half time.

Odemwingie then scored his first goal for his new club with 15 minutes left to play but the visitors were left reeling when Ricardo Vaz Te headed a late goal to send his side into the fourth round. Cardiff coach Malky Mackay spoke about the former West Brom forward’s performance: Malky: "I thought Odemwingie was excellent tonight. He always looked a danger and a threat."
The player later tweeted: “Happy to score my first goal for Cardiff City. Hope many more to come in the league which is our main objective.”
