Mathoho: Chiefs want to defend Nedbank Cup

Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho reveals that the entire team is aware of FC Buffalo's intentions going into their Wednesday night's Nedbank Cup clash at the FNB Stadiums. AmaKhosi face the Eastern Cape second division side for a spot in the quarterfinals, and Mathoho said that they will not underestimate their opponents. The lanky centre-back hinted that coach Stuart Baxter might decide to field a different team from the one that lost to AS Vita last weekend, but he added that they all want to contribute to the success of the team.
"The coach is rotating the squad to make sure that everyone gets a chance to play. I am sure the coach will give some players a rare start following a hectic game that we played in the DRC last Sunday. We all like to contribute to the success of the team," he said. The former Bloem Celtic man has also called on the AmaKhosi fans to come in their numbers to witness an exciting encounter at the iconic FNB Stadium.

Mathoho also revealed that they are not only looking to progress to the next round, but to go all the way to the final and defend their Nedbank Cup title. "We are all focused on the next game. Our aim is not only to win this game, it is also a matter of defending our trophy. The mood in the camp is full of fighting spirit and the determination to do well in [this] competition," added Mathoho.
