Kelechi Iheanacho’s equalising goal for Manchester City against Southampton on Sunday means that he is – statistically – the most lethal striker in Europe. The second half strike, after coming off the bench, was the Nigerian international’s eighth goal in the last 11 League matches. More pertinently, it means the 11 goals he has scored in his Premier League career have come off just 17 shots at target, the best on the continent.
According to the BBC, it leaves Iheanacho with a shot conversion rate of 40.7, which is some way better that Osmanlispor’s Mali attacker Cheick Diabate (37). With a minimum requirement of 10 goals since August 2015, it’s also better than Claudio Pizarro (Werder Bremen, 35.9), Carlos Bacca (AC Milan, 34.3) and Imanol Agirretxe (Real Sociedad, 34.2).
